Tatenda Saunyama

Tatenda is a social worker with 17  years of post-qualification experience in child services as a social worker and social work team manager. He has worked as a social worker in all areas of children’s services and has spent the past 9 years as a specialist disability social practitioner. Tatenda is a social work practice Educator with an Honours degree in Social Work and a Master of Social Development and Policy degree, amongst other qualifications. 

Tatenda is passionate about objective-orientated interventions and evidence-based care planning and assessment. Tatenda’s interests are in disability care planning and anti-oppressive practice, safeguarding and specialist assessments.

Key Areas of Expertise

  • Statutory Child Protection, with high specialism in  Safeguarding Children with Disabilities.
  • Managing multi-disciplinary social work teams.  
  • Education and Health Care Plan Social Care Input (advice and Support to carers and parents).
  • Implementation of Disability Services and Targeted and Commissioned and Specialist Short Breaks Management in accordance with the legislative and policy framework.
  • Mental Capacity Assessment and Preparing for Adulthood/Transition support, including Court of Protection work ( Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Best Interests and Deputyship)
